OBJECTIVE: To conduct a study among the youths, a high risk groups, on the knowledge and information on AIDs. METHODS: The study was conducted among a group of 875 students of Universities & colleges, The study, in order to collect data, used the following methods--informal discussion on AIDs. a survey, using a pre-set questionnaire. The informal discussion was conducted the student union offices & other informal places to gather data. RESULTS: The result of the study indicat that out of the total of 875 youths 63.2% of them have been exposed to information on AIDs. The medium of knowledge through which information was received were: *Poster & Sticker--32%, *Electronic massmedia 6%, News paper/Journal--3.2%, Seminar--2%, ASO--8%, Frainds/Other--12%, Unknown--36.8%, Used Condom--5.6%. DISCUSSION & CONCLUSION: Being aware of AIDs, the youth are coming forward in increasing numbers on its preventive measures. The study, therefore, recommends aggressive awareness drive on this high risk group.
