Youth including street gay men, children STD and AIDS/HIV what can we do?

Issue: Youth, street gay men and school going children in the age group 15-30 are in dangerous situation in STD, AIDS/HIV in the region. Project: The trained field health animators and nurses organize youth and school going children health clubs in all the villages. Individual contact, group meetings, youth club activities starting from health care to AIDS/HIV prevention, control, care, condom distribution and counselling. Results: The youth and children health activities like education, prevention, controlling, blood screening gave a very good result in the behaviours of the beneficiaries. They felt the need of the control of HIV/AIDS and to take preventive measures in the region. The exhibitions, cultural activities, distribution of condoms, counselling gave a very good impact in the project area. 251 youth screened their blood in 6 months. Two were found HIV-positive. Youth take condoms from the youth clubs. Even the women started asking their husbands to use condoms. Lesson Learned: Organizing youth clubs in the villages and starting programs from ordinary health activities to AIDS/HIV program in the rural villages. In due course our aim will be fulfilled by follow-up actions.
