Keeping or Discarding Packaged Food After a Disaster

This is an important message from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Do not consume anything that flood water may have touched. Throw out containers with screw-caps, snap lids, twist caps, flip tops, home-canned food or traditional soda bottle-style crimped caps if flood water may have touched them. Do not eat food packaged or wrapped in plastic, cardboard, cloth or similar materials or containers that have touched flood waters. To learn more, call 1-800-CDC-INFO.
