MR-45 / Environmental Considerations in EU Government Contracts

Summary
New EU legislation adopted in March 2004 allows public contracting authorities in the EU Member States to include environmental considerations into their procurement. With this new legislation, the European Commission hopes to encourage green purchasing, thereby encouraging green production and help environmentally friendly technologies conquer the market. U.S. companies are advised to become aware of a growing trend for green products in the European Union market; this report aims to help them be well prepared to respond successfully to tenders for such products.
