Research Project: Testing Transgenic Barley for Fhb Resistance

Location: Cereal Crops Research

Project Number: 5442-21000-031-05
Project Type: Trust

Start Date: Mar 15, 2006
End Date: Mar 14, 2011

Objective:
To transform and test elite barley genotypes expressing new gene combinations with potential anti-DON activity and/or potential anti-fungal (FHB) activity.

Approach:
Cellus from commercial barley cultivars will be transformed by particle bombardment. After several rounds of selection, transgenic plants will be regenerated and tested for gene expression. Selected progeny will be advance and seed increased fro greenhouse and field tests.
