Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (EA)

DOI renewed its 4-year Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (MEA) with ASAP software on June 17, 2005. The new agreement consolidates 5 separate agreements into one, and supersedes all the individual Microsoft agreements. It includes special pricing for the enterprise desktops, servers, and other optional products, including Microsoft Project, Visio, SharePoint server, etc. A kick-off meeting was held on July 20, 2005 to go over all the issues related to the administration of this agreement, such as ensuring that all the bureaus will be able to receive software updates in a timely manner, and take advantage of the numerous software assurance benefits offered under this contract, including purchasing Office Professional for home-use at a reduced rights, receiving training vouchers, and participating in technical discussion groups. As of August 2006, DOI is now in Option Year 1 of the contract.
