Overview of the Division of Realty in Region 6
![Realtyline.jpg (879 bytes)](images/Realtyline.jpg) Welcome to the
Division of Realty Home Page of the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service Rocky
Mountain-Prairie. The Division of Realty supports the acquisition and management of
Service lands. Much of this land is acquired in support of the 92-million-acre National
Wildlife Refuge System. The lands are acquired using the Land and Water Conservation Fund
and the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund.
The
outstanding staff in the Division of Realty accomplished habitat protection beyond our own
expectations in 2000. The staff acquired fee and easement interest on over 107,000 acres
of wildlife habitat in the 8-state Region. Habitats varied from prairie ecosystems to
bottom land hardwoods to montane forest, benefiting a variety of fish and wildlife
resources.
The
eight-state Region is comprised of Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota,
South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming. Its primary purpose and goal is to provide
specialized real estate service to all Fish and Wildlife Service personnel and programs
and to all State game and fish departments under the Federal Aid Program. Up to 50
employees staff the Regional Office and five Wetland Acquisition Offices in Great Falls,
Montana; Minot and Bismarck, North Dakota; and, Aberdeen and Huron, South Dakota.
We
continue to go through a time of change in organization, funding, and advocacy for
acquisition. Yet, our mission to serve the Fish and Wildlife Service and the American
people has not changed. We will continue to keep our focus and evaluate our
accomplishments based upon that mission.
We are
committed to serve all divisions of the Fish and Wildlife Service and our non-government
partners in this effort. For more information on services that the Division of Realty can
