The Mountain-Prairie Region External Affairs staff provides support to the regional office and field stations to communicate and facilitate information about the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s programs to the public, media, Congress, tribes, partners, and other stakeholders in the 8-state Mountain-Prairie Region.

Legislative Affairs

Our Legislative Affairs Specialist serves as the liaison between the Service and the Congress and other political entities in the region. He monitors legislative and policy issues at local, state and Congressional levels, maintains communication with state and district Congressional offices in the region, coordinates Congressional outreach activities with field stations, provides policy analysis and recommendations to the Regional Directorate, and serves as the regional point-of-contact for the Service’s Washington Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs.

Matt Kales, 303-236-4576, matt_kales@fws.gov

Native American Affairs

Our Native American Liaison monitors tribal natural resources and conservation issues and maintains communication with the American Indian tribes within the region. Her awareness and relationship with tribes enhances the ability of Service programs to work with tribes. She also provides outreach and education regarding tribal efforts to protect, preserve, and conserve fish and wildlife resources.

Kim Greenwood, 303-236-4575, kim_greenwood@fws.gov

Public Affairs

Our Public Affairs Specialists identify and communicate Service issues of public interest and concern. They provide outreach consultation on issues, activities, and actions of regional significance, assisting with outreach strategy development, media relations, partnership building, field visit coordination, and special events planning.
