There are 32 Charter members of the NEMO Network located in 31 states across the U.S. Each of the programs are modeled after the original University of Connecticut program and share 5 key elements:

  1. The issue is the impact land use has on Natural Resources, particularly water quality
  2. The solution offered is Natural Resource Based Planning
  3. The target audience is local land use decision-makers
  4. Unbiased, research-based Education is the method used
  5. Geographic information system technology is used to enhance the educational message.

Despite sharing these 5 core principles, each program is its own independent entity adapted to its state’s own unique geography, structure, and sensibilities with a different structure, approach, focus, funding source and partner. Click on Program Profiles to find out more about these programs and the impacts they are having in their communities.
