Region 3 News Release: III-03-05-27-059-PA Date: Tues., May 27, 2003 Contact: Leni Uddyback-Fortson Office: (215) 861-5102 OSHA, Alliance Environmental Systems, Inc. and PA/OSHA Consultation Program Seek to Protect Employees From Workplace Hazards Through A New Alliance PHILADELPHIA -- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, through its Philadelphia and Allentown offices, will join Alliance Environmental Systems, Inc. and its partnering subcontractors and suppliers (AES Plus), along with the Pennsylvania OSHA Consultation Program at Indiana University to form an alliance on Wed., May 28, 2003, 7:30 a.m. at the Alliance Environmental Systems office, located at 550 E. Union Street, West Chester, Pa. The alliance is designed to provide information, guidance and training resources to area companies to protect employees' health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to the hazards of asbestos, indoor air quality abatement and dangerous demolition activities involving hazardous materials. "By arming employees with the information and training they need, we are taking a strong proactive stance against workplace hazards," says Richard Soltan, OSHA regional administrator, "We hope this alliance will serve as an example to other companies throughout Pennsylvania." Through the alliance, OSHA, AES Plus and PA/OSHA Consultation plan to offer OSHA-related presentations, especially regarding asbestos, indoor air quality abatement and dangerous demolition activities and hazardous material; encourage AES Plus employee participation in an OSHA Train-the-trainer course on Occupational Safety and Health Standards; disseminate information; promote and encourage AES Plus members' participation in OSHA's cooperative programs including compliance assistance, the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and/or the PA/OSHA Consultation services and their program, including the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP). In addition, AES Plus will act as mentors to AES Plus worksites that aspire to safety and health excellence. OSHA is dedicated to assuring worker safety and health.
