The GPS Ranger is an exciting new way to explore Shenandoah National Park.
Whether you are visiting us in person or from afar via technology, Shenandoah offers a wide variety of ways to connect! You can see us in detail through our photo galleries where we have everything from historical images to colorful shots of tiny wildflowers and wide vistas.
Our webcams let you "visit" the park in real-time so you can keep up with the weather, fall leaf color, and other special happenings. Podcasts and videos can give you a glimpse from home, or download them and bring them with you. Or spend some time at Rapidan Camp through our web-based activities. Although designed for teachers and students, we hope everyone will enjoy this new interactive program scheduled to launch this winter (2009).
Once you are at Shenandoah you can take along a GPS Ranger—a gps unit loaded with film footage, photos, and commentary that “key” to points along your hike. For more information about renting a unit click here.
