Program for International Student Assessment (PISA)

Data Files

The PISA data provide researchers access to information about the reading, mathematics, and science literacy of 15-year-olds in the United States and all participating countries. In addition to achievement scores, researchers can explore data related to demographic and other contextual variables.

International Data Files
The PISA international databases, including data for all countries, and related manuals are available from the PISA international site.

U.S. Data Files
In each round of PISA, the United States collects information that is not part of the international assessment, such as the race/ethnicity of students and information on students’ participation in the federal free and reduced-price lunch program. The U.S. data files contain information about the United States only and include the U.S.-specific variables. These additional variables are available only through NCES.

The PISA 2006 U.S. public-use data files are available below. To obtain the 2006 U.S. restricted-use data files and 2000 and 2003 U.S. data files, visit Publications and Products.
