Job Description: The Beach team is seeking a highly motivated individual to help develop a tool to assess State beach monitoring and public notification programs, and evaluate the effectiveness of grant utilization. This work is very important and timely as proposed revisions to the BEACH Act would require EPA to annually assess a State beach program, make the assessment public and withhold a portion of grant funds for any State or Territory that does not fully comply with the Act’s requirements.
EPA plans to continue the development this assessment tool this summer and test it prior to passage of the BEACH Act revisions. The successful candidate will work closely with the Beach Team as well as with Regional Beach Coordinators to develop the assessment tool from a summary of Beach grant information obtained for all 35 BEACH Act States/Territories and two tribes.
Internship Location: EPA West Bldg, Washington, DC
Desired Skills: Student who has completed at least two years of undergraduate work and has a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel.
Approximate Start/End Dates: June –August 2008
