State and district results were collected in reading and mathematics at grades 4 and 8.

Note: The District of Columbia did not participate in the 2005 science assessment due to an insufficient sample size. Note: In 2001, Congress funded the NAEP urban school district assessment feasibility studies. NAEP conducted the first Trial Urban District Assessment (TUDA) study in 2002.
