Research Project: Sustainable Production of Strawberry and Ornamentals Without Methyl Bromide

Objective:
To develop cost effective alternatives for methyl bromide for use in strawberry and ornamental production systems.

Approach:
Will set up multiple field trials in various production regions of California to evaluate the efficacy and economic viability of alternative fumigants, plastic tarps to seal the soil, and application technologies. In some of these plots pathogen survival will be evaluated. Grower demonstration trials and educational outreach to the grower community are part of this project.
