Research Project:
Elucidating the Mechanisms That Connect Activation of Rop Gtpases, Membrane Dynamics and Signaling in Cell Growth and Stress Responses
Location: Plant Gene Expression Center Albany_CA
Project Number: 5335-21000-030-01
Project Type:
Reimbursable
Start Date: Jul 01, 2007
End Date: Jun 30, 2010
Objective:
To investigate the biochemical mechanisms that link the perception of extracellular signals to the downstream cytoplasmic events in signal transduction. Specifically we will investigate the roles that ROPs, ROP-GEFs and receptor kinases play during pollen tube growth.
Approach:
1. Establish the distribution of active and inactive ROPs in pollen.
2. Determine the distribution of ROPs in membranes of ROP-GEF loss and gain of function mutants.
3. Determine the lipid modifications of ROPs in ROP-GEF gain and loss of function mutants.
4. Determine the connection between activation, membrane distribution, and lipid modification in type-II ROPs.
5. Determine if the dynamics of the RLK-ROPGEF-ROP proteins regulate pollen tube polarity. Documents Reimbursable with BARD Log 32159.
