Mission:
The Corvallis location has three MUs whose missions are (1) to improve the profitability of forage seed, cereal, hop and shellfish production systems in the Pacific Northwest in a manner that meets the environmental expectations of society in general (NFSPRC); (2) to investigate fundamental aspects of the physiology and pathology of a wide range of horticultural and other crops, placing emphasis on stress and flowering physiology, breeding and genetics, cultural and biological control of diseases, and the biology and application of beneficial microorganisms, especially mycorrhizal fungi and rhizobacteria (HCRL); and (3) to collect, maintain, evaluate, and distribute to users clonally propagated germplasm of small fruits, hops, and mint, and to develop improved methods of propagating, maintaining, and evaluating vegetatively propagated germplasm (NCGR).
