DeSoto County Microburst

Around 5:30 AM Monday morning, a  severe thunderstorm  produced a microburst that resulted in significant damage in the Forest Hill Subdivision just southeast of Olive Branch in DeSoto County Mississippi. A ground survey indicated that 29 homes sustained some level of damage along with sporadic damage to vehicles.  The damage path was approximately 150 yards wide and 1.25 miles long. Peak winds were estimated between 75 and 100 mph.  There were no reports of injuries associated with this severe weather event.

Shelby County (Midtown) Microburst

Around 10:00 PM Wednesday evening, a  severe thunderstorm  produced a microburst that resulted in significant damage in the Midtown area of Memphis.  Several trees were knocked down or uprooted along Union Avenue near the Methodist Hospital. A printing company experienced roof and structural damage. The debris from the printing company was blown next door into the Hampton Inn causing damage to the exterior of the building. Several trees were snapped in the parking lot with at least one vehicle receiving damage. Near the corner of Washington Avenue and East Parkway, a large tree was uprooted and fell onto a house. Peak winds were estimated around 80 mph.  There were no reports of injuries associated with this severe weather event.
