Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA)
The Bureau of Indian Affairs' mission is to enhance the quality of life, to promote economic opportunity, and to carry out the responsibility to protect and improve the trust assets of American Indians, Indian tribes and Alaska Natives. They accomplish this through the delivery of quality services, maintaining government-to-government relationships within the spirit of Indian self-determination. California Housing Finance Agency
The California Housing Finance Agency's mission is to finance below-market rate loans to create safe, decent, and affordable rental housing and to assist first-time homebuyers in achieving the dream of homeownership. Visit their Web site.

Fannie Mae
Fannie Mae is a private, shareholder-owned company that works to make sure mortgage money is available for people in communities all across America. They do not lend money directly to home buyers. Instead, they work with lenders to make sure they don't run out of mortgage funds, so more people can achieve the dream of homeownership. Federal Housing Administration
The Federal Housing Administration (FHA), a wholly owned government corporation, was established under the National Housing Act of 1934 to improve housing standards and conditions; to provide an adequate home financing system through insurance of mortgages; and to stabilize the mortgage market. FHA was consolidated into the newly established Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in 1965. Since 1934, FHA has been extremely successful in achieving these goals.

Freddie Mac
Freddie Mac is a stockholder-owned corporation chartered by Congress in 1970 to create a continuous flow of funds to mortgage lenders in support of homeownership and rental housing. Freddie Mac purchases mortgages from lenders and packages them into securities that are sold to investors. Habitat for Humanity International
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, nondenominational Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity's work is organized at the local level by more than 1,900 affiliates worldwide. Affiliates coordinate house building and select partner families. Homeowner families are chosen according to their need; their ability to repay the no-profit, no-interest mortgage; and their willingness to work in partnership with Habitat. The State of Montana is committed to working closely with Montana's Indian Tribe. Nebraska Investment Finance Authority
NIFA's Mission is to provide the people of Nebraska with a broad range of financial resources for agricultural, residential, manufacturing, medical and community development endeavors and provide technical assistance for activities related to these areas. New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority

Oregon Housing and Community Services
Oregon Housing and Community Services (OHCS) is the State of Oregon's housing finance agency, providing financial and program support to create and preserve opportunities for quality, affordable housing for Oregonians of lower and moderate income. South Dakota Housing Development Authority
The SDHDA is committed to leading the affordable housing industry with its integrity, innovation and financial strength. The Enterprise Foundation
The Enterprise Foundation rebuilds communities. They work with partners to provide low-income people with affordable housing, safer streets and access to jobs and child care. They also help strengthen nonprofit organizations working in community development. Visit their Web site.

Housing Assistance Council
The Housing Assistance Council (HAC) is a nonprofit corporation headquartered in Washington, D.C., HAC has been helping local organizations build affordable homes in rural America since 1971. HAC emphasizes local solutions, empowerment of the poor, reduced dependence and self-help strategies. HAC assists in the development of both single- and multi-family homes and promotes homeownership for working low-income rural families through a self-help, "sweat equity" construction method. The Housing Assistance Council offers services to public, nonprofit and private organizations throughout the rural United States. HAC also maintains a special focus on high-need groups and regions: Indian country, the Mississippi Delta, farmworkers, the Southwest border colonies and Appalachia. Housing Research Foundation
The Housing Research Foundation is the nation's only nonprofit institution dedicated exclusively to the study of public housing and its residents. With support from public housing authorities, HUD, and foundations, HRF conducts research to educate policymakers, practitioners, and the public about key issues affecting public housing communities. National Council of State Housing Agencies
The National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) is a national, nonprofit organization created by the nations state housing finance agencies to assist them in increasing housing opportunities for lower income and under served people through the financing, development, and preservation of affordable housing. National Housing Institute
The National Housing Institute is a 26-year old independent nonprofit organization that examines the issues causing the crisis in housing and community in America. NHI examines the key issues affecting affordable housing and community development practitioners and their supporters. These issues include housing, jobs, safety, and education, with an emphasis on housing and economic development, as well as poverty and racism, disinvestment and lack of employment, and breakdown of the social fabric.
