Research Project: Applied Genomic Analysis of Leptospira

Location: Bacterial Diseases of Livestock

2006 Annual Report

4d.Progress report.
This report serves to document research conducted under a non-funded cooperative agreement with Monash University. Additional details of this research can be found in the report for the parent CRIS 3625-32000-060-00D (Genomic and Immunological Analysis of Spirochetes That Infect Livestock). In FY2006, microarrays to Leptospira interrogans and Leptospira borgpetersenii were manufactured and delivered to ARS. In addition, microarray studies were conducted that analyzed changes in transcription in response to temperature shifts. A manuscript describing these results was submitted and accepted for publication. Current studies, extending into FY2007 are examining the transcriptional responses to different forms of environmental stress to identify key factors that facilitate bacterial survival between animal hosts.
