Would you like a park ranger to visit your classroom?

Ranger programs are offered Wednesday – Friday, only available January through March. 

  • All programs are based on Kentucky/Tennessee curriculum standards.
  • Interactive programs for Kindergarten through 8th grades
  • Programs length varies from 30-45 minutes. 
  • Class size limited to 20-25 students. 
  • No fees.

Permafrost is defined as ground that remains frozen for two or more years. In its continuous form, permafrost underlies the entire Arctic region to depths of 2,000 feet. Continuous permafrost occurs north of the Brooks Range and in the alpine region of the mountains in Alaska and in the Lower 48.
