Idaho in Focus: Census Bureau Pre-Caucus Snapshot
As one of the 24 states holding “Super Tuesday” presidential primaries and caucuses, Idaho’s 2007 population of 1.5 million includes a higher percentage of the non-Hispanic white-alone population and a lower percentage of Hispanics and blacks than the nation as a whole, according to U.S. Census Bureau statistics. About 62 percent of Idaho’s voting-age citizens cast a ballot in the 2004 general election, not statistically different from the national rate of 64 percent.
These and other statistics about Idaho’s population on topics ranging from language spoken to commute times can be found in the American FactFinder section of the Census Bureau Web site <http://factfinder.census.gov/>. More information about the nation’s voting record can be found in Voting and Registration in the Election of November 2004 at <http://www.census.gov/population/www/socdemo/voting.html>.
