Tribal Assistance Programs

Several of the Federal programs that provide technical assistance and grants to Indian tribes and Alaska Native Villages are listed below:

	Clean Water Indian Set-Aside Grant Program- provides grant funds for the planning, design and construction of tribal wastewater treatment facilities.
	Clean Water Act Section 106 Tribal Pollution Control Grant Program- provides grants to States, interstate agencies, and eligible Indian tribes to assist them in the development and implementation of water pollution control programs.
	Clean Water Act Section 104(b)(3) Water Quality Cooperative Agreements/Grants- provides funding to EPA Regions for solicitation of grant proposals from States and Tribes for work that focuses on innovative demonstration projects that relate to unified watershed assessments and watershed restoration priorities.
	U.S.-Mexico Tribal Border Infrastructure Grant Program- provides grants to tribes within 100 km (approximately 62 miles) of the U.S.-Mexico Border for the construction of drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
	Alaskan Native Village And Rural Communities Sanitation Grant Program- provides grants to Alaska Native Villages and rural Alaskan communities for the construction of drinking water and wastewater treatment systems, improvements in existing systems, and for training and technical assistance in the operations and maintenance of these systems.
	Model Navajo Nation National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Program Initiative- initiative provides a model of a tribal NPDES Program. The goal of the Navajo NPDES Program is to obtain U.S. EPA-approved authorization to operate NPDES, pretreatment, and sludge management programs.
