OPPT International Activities EPA is an active partner with the Department of State and other U.S. agencies in a number of international activities. These activities range from participation in conferences and meetings to development of agreements and negotiations promoting community right-to-know objectives, the manufacture, use, management and disposal of chemicals and heavy metals, and chemical testing. All of these activities complement and contribute to the accomplishment of EPA's mission and responsibilities under various laws and international agreements. They are carried out in cooperation and consultation with industry, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and interested stakeholders.

Coordinated international action is critical for dealing effectively with sound management of chemicals at the global level. An important component of this work is capacity-building for developing countries and countries with economics in transition. The following represents the Office's current international efforts:
