National Council of State Directors of Community Colleges
Provides a forum for the exchange of information about developments, trends, and problems in state systems of community colleges.

Related Organizations and Resources

American Association of Community Colleges
Serves as the primary advocacy organization for the nation's community colleges. The Association represents more than 1,100 associate degree-granting institutions and some 10 million students.

Association of Community College Trustees
A nonprofit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern over 1,200 community, technical, and junior colleges in the United States, Canada, and England.

College Opportunities Online (NCES)
Provides a directory of two- and four-year, public and private institutions, searchable by name, location, type of institution and degree program.

Education Commission of the States
Provides news, research, analyses, and technical assistance for state education policymakers.

Education Trust
Promotes high academic achievement of students at all levels, K-16, and closing achievement gaps. Website includes interactive state and national data, reports, and data disks.

Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE)
Distributes grants under its Comprehensive Program to groups focused on improving teaching or student learning, or improving access to postsecondary education. FIPSE also sponsors "special focus competitions" on postsecondary improvement topics that vary from year to year.

Middle College High School Consortium
Lists sites and shared resources of members. Sites involve high schools located at community colleges, particularly targeting at-risk learners.

National Center for Postsecondary Improvement (NCPI)
A research consortium of three universities' centers dedicated to helping employers, faculty, students, parents, and administrators negotiate the changing world of higher education by providing relevant information and analysis.

National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education
An independent, non-profit organization that promotes public policies that enhance Americans' opportunities to pursue and achieve high-quality education and training beyond high school.

National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD)
The outreach organization of the Community College Leadership Program at the University of Texas at Austin. NISOD is a consortium of colleges and universities promoting professional development of faculty, administrators, and staff, and focusing on community college leadership and community college studies.

Pathways to College Network
An alliance of foundations, organizations, and others, focusing research-based knowledge and resources on improving college preparation, access, and success for under-served populations. Website includes publications, resources, and a clearinghouse.

State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO)
A non-profit, nationwide association of the chief executive officers serving statewide coordinating and governing boards of postsecondary education. Website includes projects, resources, publications, and information on K-16 systems.

Chronicle of Higher Education: Community College News
Provides weekly updates on news of importance to community colleges. Website also features a jobs listing, and an email update service (most of the resources on this website are only accessible to members).

From the American Association of Community Colleges, provides articles, profiles, and data and survey summaries. Available 6 times a year, by subscription.

Learning Abstracts and Leadership Abstracts
Monthly publications by the League for Innovation in the Community College addressing ways to become more learning-centered institutions and exploring key leadership issues in the community college.
