Provides leadership, communication, professional development, and advocacy for adult education and literacy practioners.

Community Partnerships for Adult Learning
This sponsored program works to strengthen ties among businesses, libraries, colleges, national nonprofits, faith-based and community-based organizations, social services and workforce development agencies, federally funded state-run programs, and other providers to improve the accessibility and quality of adult education.

Employment and Training Administration (U.S. Department of Labor)
provides a comprehensive list of adult programs including "America's Labor Market and Information System."

GED (General Educational Development) Testing Service
A program of the American Council on Education, this site provides general information on the GED Testing Service.

International Association for Continuing Education and Training
Engages in research and development projects for effective practices, findings of which are incorporated into the criteria for the Continuing Education Unit.

International Reading Association
A professional membership organization dedicated to promoting high levels of literacy for all by improving the quality of reading instruction, disseminating research and information about reading, and encouraging the lifetime reading habit.

Learning Disabilities Association of America
Dedicated to identifying causes and promoting prevention of learning disabilities, as well as advocacy for individuals with learning disabilities.

LiteracyLink
Provides an integrated instructional system of video and online computer technology to help adult students advance their GED and workplace skills. Also provides professional development resources and training to literacy educators.

National Adult Education Professional Development Consortium
Provides professional development opportunities to state adult education staff. Also disseminates information and reviews adult education public policy initiatives.

National Center for Family Literacy
Supports family literacy service-providers through programming, training, research, advocacy, and dissemination of information.

The National Center for the Study of Adult Learning and Literacy
Coordinates a national research agenda for adult basic education activities, including the dissemination of research and best practice information.

National Center for Education Statistics
Collects and reports statistics and information illustrating the condition and progress of education in the United States and other countries.

Center for Adult English Language Acquisition (CAELA) is building the capacity of states with emerging immigrant populations to provide systematic training and effective, ongoing technical assistance to teachers and administrators in adult English language acquisition programs. CAELA also will disseminate research-based resources and promising practices at the national level.

National Institute for Literacy
Site includes resources on workplace literacy, family literacy, English as a second language, learning disabilities, and advocacy issues. The Institute's programs and services support the development and provision of high quality adult education and literacy services.

Outreach and Technical Assistance Network
A site funded by the California Department of Education, Adult Education Unit, that includes information on grant opportunities, curricula resources, lesson plans, software, and reference libraries.

ProLiteracy
ProLiteracy offers an accreditation system of standards that focuses on outcomes that are relevant to the local communities that ProLiteracy affiliates serve. ProLiteracy Worldwide was formed by the 2002 merger of Laubach Literacy International and Literacy Volunteers of America, Inc.

Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages
A professional education association whose mission is to develop the expertise of those involved in teaching English to speakers of other languages.
