Important News: EPA has decided to halt the Performance Track program, effective immediately. Performance Track members, states, and endorser network partners will receive further instruction.
Please see the memo from EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson (PDF) (2 pp, 985K) for more details.

National Environmental Performance TrackPerformance Track is a voluntary partnership that recognizes top environmental performance among participating U.S. facilities of all types, sizes, and complexity, public and private. Program partners are providing leadership in many areas, including preventing pollution at its source.  Performance Track members have significantly reduced their collective energy and water consumption, decreased their generation of solid and hazardous waste, reduced air emissions, and preserved thousands of acres of habitat.

Since the program’s inception in 2000, Performance Track has over 400 members nationwide.  Region 2 has grown over 40 members in New Jersey, New York, and Puerto Rico. Region 2 member facilities come from a variety of different industry sectors, from pharmaceuticals to research and education. Applications are accepted twice a year: April 1 - May 31, and September 1 - October 31.

While building a collaborative relationship with EPA, Performance Track participants have realized environmental results beyond what would be achieved through regulation and enforcement alone.
