EPA announces $19.5 million Recovery Act funds for water infrastructure projects in Delaware (04/27/09) This new infusion of money provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 will help the state and local governments finance many of the overdue improvements to water projects that are essential to protecting public health and the environment across the state. Green Power Partnership LogoFor three years running, EPA’s Green Power Partnership has tracked and recognized the collegiate athletic conferences with the highest combined green power purchases in the nation. The partnership encourages organizations to buy green power as a way to reduce the environmental impacts associated with traditional fossil fuel-based electricity use. This year's winners of Green Power College and University Challenge include: the University of Pennsylvania, Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, St. Mary's College of Maryland, and Catholic University and American University in Washington, DC.

EPA funds safe, dependable water for 18,000 Somerset County. Pa. residents (04/20/09) The water infrastructure project includes constructing storage tanks, a filtration plant, pumps, and a transmission main to service the boroughs and townships between the Quemahoning Reservoir and Somerset, Pennsylvania. Seafood processing plant in Norfolk, Va. settles chemical reporting violations (04/20/09) J.H. Miles and Company has paid a $9,408 civil penalty and has completed an $18,540 environmental project for failing to file required reports on ammonia, No. 4 fuel oil and liquid nitrogen. Press Release

U.S. Army settles underground storage tank violations at Aberdeen Proving Ground (04/20/09) The Army will pay a $29,928 civil penalty and will spend $209,432 to remove the underground storage tanks and install above-ground tanks. Press Release

Ice cream manufacturer in Hagerstown, Md. settles chemical reporting violations (04/20/09) The settlement is for a violation of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act by failing to file a required report of one hazardous chemical - sulfuric acid - at the facility. Press Release
