Slug-A-Bug, Inc.'s PESP Strategy

Describe your Organization’s Five-Year Goals Related to Pesticide Risk Reduction

Our goal is to greatly reduce our use of standard pesticides in the field. We will be proactive in researching and educating our employee's, customers and our community on their role in social and environmental responsibility.

What do you envision doing (broadly) to try to resolve your major issues?

We are currently using acceptable products that reduce and control the local pest pressure. We will continue to implement IPM and non-chemical controls and continue the investigation of new and alternative products as they become available, making sure that we deliver effective service to our customers.

Goal 1 and Tactics

We have already employed an alternative green program to reach our goal of offering an alternative to standard pesticides. The EPA could perhaps provide an open and easily accessible knowledge base that centers around non-synthetic products and their efficacy. We will closely monitor our customer satisfaction index and customer conversions to alternative solutions. This will tell us if we are being successful in our objective.

Goal 2 and Tactics

We have started our 2nd goal - Educating our employee's, customers, and community. The EPA could make available to the public, scientific evidence to support the use of alternative products, compared to the use of standard pesticides.

Goal 3 and Tactics

Our third goal is to be the point source in the community for information and education on the issues surrounding the use of alternative products and techniques for reducing local pest pressures. The EPA can make sure that the PESP really means something, and will provide an open avenue for partnership.
