New York Power Authority

(PESP Partner since May 2002)

The Power Authority’s commitment to the environment began with their original mandate, to develop the hydroelectric resources of the St. Lawrence River. Starting with their first power project, St. Lawrence-FDR, they’ve included parks, wildlife areas and other conservation and recreational features as part of their development plans, setting the standard for other electric utilities throughout the United States. Today, their successes with clean, renewable-fuel technologies and energy-efficiency programs are attracting international attention as they continue their mission to meet the public’s need for economical electricity while protecting the environment.NYPA's stakeholders, the people of New York, have a genuine regard for the state’s natural resources; accordingly, the Power Authority is committed to performance excellence while maintaining our tradition of respect for the environment.
