Elk Grove Park District

(PESP Partner since Febuary 2006)

An inner suburb to Chicago, the Elk Grove Park District serves a community of 34,000 residents and 3,800 firms. Facilities include two theme parks, a golf course, a skate park, and recreational and administrative buildings. There are 45 parks covering 300 acres. The district is sponsor of the Exceptionally Healthy Community, a program designed to challenge participants by offering information and continuing education to promote healthier lifestyles. The park district is committed to continued exploration of new methods of insect and weed control with as little impact to the environment as possible. They will implement reductions in the application of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides through the use of integrated pest management.
