About the FloodSmart Campaign

The FloodSmart Campaign is an integrated consumer awareness and education campaign launched by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) in 2004 to alert property owners to their flood risk and encourage them to contact their insurance agents to protect their property and ensure their financial security with flood insurance. The campaign also works with members of the insurance community to educate them about the importance of flood insurance coverage for their clients. Direct mail, television commercials, online and print advertising are just some of the ways the campaign reaches out to consumers. All campaign elements prompt individuals to call their agent and to visit the FloodSmart.gov Web site for more information about the steps they should take to be properly prepared for damage due to flooding. At FloodSmart.gov, consumers can see just how much damage flooding can cause, assess their individual flood risk, and learn more about the claims process. Consumers can also use the "Find an Agent" tool on FloodSmart.gov or call a 1-800 phone number to locate an agent in their area and obtain a flood insurance policy.

The newest addition to the FloodSmart campaign is Agents.FloodSmart.gov - a secure Web site designed exclusively for insurance agents. The site offers helpful tips, training information, sales tools and resources created specifically for agents so that they can better serve their clients. Featuring everything from the latest claims and product information from the NFIP to information about scheduled flood map changes across the country, this new offering makes it easier than ever for agents to access a broad range of industry-specific tools that they can use everyday to make sure home and business owners in their area have the protection they need. Agents can register now at Agents.FloodSmart.gov.
