The software listed below is intended to provide
academia and industry a compilation of risk assessment software
tools used by EPA, such as those for risk screening, hazard,
exposure, and fate estimation. Most of these can be downloaded
directly at no cost. This compliation also includes some commercially
available risk |

assessment/pollution prevention tools. These tools can assist engineers
in the prioritization, design, and selection of greener processes
and products. Click here
to read about the Green Process Design Software system. The tables
below list software presented in the Green Engineering textbook:
Green Engineering: Environmentally Conscious Design for Chemical
Processes by David Allen and David Shonnard, as well as
additonal software. |

Estimates p-chem and
fate properties associated with environmental risks. EPI
Suite includes: AOPWIN - estimates atmospheric oxidation rates
BIOWIN - estimates biodegradation probability
HYDROWIN - estimates aqueous hydrolysis rates (acid-, base-catalyzed)
LEV3EPI - predicts partitioning of chemicals between air, soil,
sediment, and water
STPWIN - predicts the percent of a compound that will be removed
from wastewater
WVOLWIN - estimates rate of volatilization
BCFWIN - estimates bioconcentration
factor (BCF)
ECOSAR
- estimates aquatic toxicity (LD50, LC50)
HENRYWIN - estimates Henry's law constant
KOWWIN - estimates octanol-water partition coefficient
MPBPWIN - estimates melting point, boiling point, and vapor
pressure
PCKOCWIN - estimates soil sorption coefficient (Koc)
WSKOWWIN - estimates water solubility
SMILESCAS
- converts chemicals with CAS numbers into SMILES notation

Green
Engineering Design Software |
|
|
A goal of the Green Engineering Program is to develop
a Green Process Design software package that integrates selected models
and tools with process design software.
The following figure (click on figure to enlarge) diagrams what
EPA envisions as the final goal for the combined risk and design
software package: the Integrated Green Process Design System (IGPDS).
