Welcome to FHFA...

Welcome to the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA). This Web site premiered October 27, 2008, as the portal to information about this new agency, which was formed by a legislative merger of the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO), the Federal Housing Finance Board (FHFB) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) mission team. FHFA regulates Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the 12 Federal Home Loan Banks. The site is still under construction and users may note that some links on this site temporarily will connect back to the OFHEO and FHFB Web sites. As site construction is finalized, old links will disappear. Thank you.

An important new government Web site was launched on Thursday, March 19, 2009.  Please use the self-assessment tools provided on MakingHomeAffordable.gov to see if you are among the 7 to 9 million homeowners who may be able to benefit from  Home  Affordable Refinance Program. The President’s Plan was created to help millions of homeowners refinance or modify their mortgages to a payment that is affordable, both now and in the future.

Information for participating servicers and servicers interested in participating in the Home Affordable Modification Program can be found at http://www.hmpadmin.com. The Home Affordable Modification Program is designed to help as many as 3 to 4 million homeowners avoid preventable foreclosure by modifying loans to a level that is affordable for borrowers now and sustainable over the long term.
