Federal Research Project Inventory

The projects contained within this database were submitted by the participating agencies. The format of the inventory is constructed to match with the Federal Research Framework developed by the CENR. Definitions for the keywords fields are as follows (in the database, both primary and secondary keywords maybe contained within a given field):

FOR INVENTORY CATEGORY:

Methods research is that which is intended to identify human health and ecological hazards, or to detect environmental contamination, including efforts to improve upon sensitivity, accuracy and reliability of existing methods.

Model development research is that designed to develop generically applicable predictive models of exposure or effects in target species. This category includes conduct of research to understand basic biological mechanisms that can serve as the basis for construction of quantitative models, as well as research of a more basic nature that one day may lead to model development.

Measurement research includes studies initiated to ascertain or quantify the degree of the effect or the magnitude of the exposure for a particular experimental model or environmental situation, the primary purpose is therefore to collect specific information about certain chemicals.

THE INVENTORY SUBCATEGORY IS INTENDED TO BE A SUBSET OF THE MAIN CATEGORY:

  • For Methods the choices are:
    • Hazard identification, or
    • Biomarker research;
  • For Model research the choices are:
    • Risk models,
    • Basic research,
    • or Mixtures;
  • For Measurement Research the choices are:
    • Exposure determination/follow-up,
    • Multidisciplinary research,
    • Sentinel species,
    • or Database development.
THE REMAINING INVENTORY FIELDS SHOULD BE SELF EXPLANATORY
