Planning

The Upper Snake Field Office is launching a comprehensive review of its land use management direction for the area. Public input in this process is a critical component. Please provide your input regarding the current projects listed below.

Recreation Input — At this time, in partnership with the University of Idaho and the University of Colorado, we are collecting information regarding visitor’s recreation activities, experiences and benefits via a website. To provide your recreation input please click here

Wild and Scenic Rivers Input — In partnership with the University we are currently collecting information to help determine if segments of the South Fork of the Snake River, and/or the Teton River, and/or tributaries of the Teton River are suitable for inclusion in the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System. To provide your Wild and Scenic Rivers input please click here

The BLM prepares comprehensive land use plans to guide management decisions and actions on public lands. Before 1985, BLM's land use plans were called Management Framework Plans (MFPs). Since 1985, BLM's land use plans are called Resource Management Plans (RMPs). RMPs are prepared for relatively large areas of public lands, called planning areas, that tend to have similar resource characteristics. These planning areas usually coincide with BLM's field office boundaries. RMPs are also prepared for BLM-managed National Monuments and National Conservation Areas, which are components of the National Landscape Conservation System.

Additional links to our office's land use plans are listed at the top right of this page.  You may wish to visit the Upper Snake RMP website for additional information regarding our planning processes.

Our contact information is below; please call or write us if you need any additional information.  Emails can be sent to upper_snake_rmp@blm.gov.
