Flood Disaster Assistance Reaches $1 Million Mark

Charleston, WV -- More than $1 million in disaster housing assistance has been approved, according to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials. The funds, issued within ten days of the declaration, are to help families meet their disaster housing needs following the flooding, storms and landslides that occurred between May 15 and June 11.

In addition, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved $34,800 in low-interest disaster loans.

To date, FEMA has received a total of 1,165 registrations for assistance. Registrations will continue to be accepted until the August 2nd deadline.
