Southwestern Power Administration

Southwestern markets the hydroelectric power produced at 24 multipurpose dams to publicly held entities such as rural electric cooperatives and municipal utilities. Southwestern maintains a 1,380 mile transmission system and markets its power to over one hundred utility customers that serve over 7 million people.

  • Due to the extreme drought experienced during FY 2005 and FY 2006, Southwestern utilized the Continuing Fund to purchase power in order to fulfill its contractual obligations to customers.
