The Forest Legacy program protects “working forests” those that protect water quality, provide habitat, forest products, opportunities for recreation and other public benefits.

As of February 5th, 2008, the FLP has protected 1,579,348 acres in 37 States and Territories. Currently 46 States and Territories are enrolled in the program with 5 more in the planning stages.
