LAKEWOOD, Colo.—Administrator Tim Meeks announced today his selection of Darrick Moe as the new Desert Southwest regional manager for Western Area Power Administration.

“I’m confident in Darrick,” said Meeks. “He brings a solid track record as a leader, manager and technical expert in the electric utility business to this senior position.”

Moe will start his appointment as manager of DSW—one of Western’s four regions—on Jan. 4. Upon accepting the position, Moe stated, “I have heard many good things about the employees of the Desert Southwest Region, and the customers they serve. I am looking forward to working with them during this exciting time in Western’s history, and in the utility industry.”

Commenting on the importance of this Federal resource to the Southwest, Meeks emphasized, “Our wholesale customers who receive power from the Boulder Canyon,  Parker-Davis, Pacific Northwest-Southwest Intertie and other Federal projects, to be marketed under Darrick, have come to count on cost-based power and transmission services to meet the electrical needs of their customers, who are residents, businesses and industries.

"I know Darrick will carry forward the tradition of strong customer relations and flexible, superior service," added Meeks. "I’m glad to have him back with Western.”

Currently Moe is the Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Power Marketing Liaison Office in Washington, D.C., as well as a senior manager for the Southwestern and Southeastern power marketing administrations. Yet, he started his career with Western in 1988. Since then he has gained extensive electric utility experience through different positions in Western—including his positions as UGP Regional Operations Support Manager in Watertown, S.D., and as Western’s Electric Power Training Center Manager—and earned two masters degrees in electrical engineering and in humanities.
