Indianapolis, IN -- Federal officials have announced that the Dubois County Disaster Recovery Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. this coming Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. The center will close at the end of business on Tuesday, July 9.
Located in the Southwest Dubois County Schools building at 113 N. Jackson in Huntingburg, the Disaster Recovery Center is staffed by recovery experts who can provide information about insurance, repair and rebuilding, flood mitigation measures and low-interest loans available from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Those visiting the center can also check on the status of their disaster assistance applications.
Disaster Recovery Centers are made available by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to serve the needs of disaster victims who have already applied for disaster relief. Residents and business owners in disaster-declared counties may be eligible for that relief but must call FEMA to apply as soon as possible. The toll-free application number to call is 800 621-3362. Those with a speech or hearing impairment can call TTY 800 462-7585.
After having called FEMA to apply for assistance, disaster victims may visit the Dubois Disaster Recovery Center or call the numbers above for answers to any disaster-related questions or to follow up on application status. Those numbers will be available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday thru Saturday, except for Thursday, July 4, until further notice.
