Temporary Housing Provides Short Term Comfort Travel Trailers Provided In Roseau County

Moorhead, MN -- To meet the needs of Northwest Minnesota flood victims who have been displaced from their homes, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers are providing temporary housing in travel trailers. In a record six days the first trailers were on site.
"One of the main concerns of people whose lives have been disrupted by a devastating flood is where they are going to stay while their homes are repaired," says Craig Trupp, FEMA Housing Officer. " Providing these temporary trailers will ease at least some of their worries." The travel trailers being provided are approximately 8x30 feet and will sleep four to eight people.
Alternative housing is only a temporary option. For some homeowners, funds for minimal home repairs may be obtained through federal and state grants and SBA loans to make their residence safe, sanitary, and secure. Temporary alternative housing while repairs are made is also available for renters whose apartment homes have been damaged and are un-livable due to the flood. Examples of emergency work include essential repairs to electrical and plumbing systems.
Individuals who have suffered damage from the flooding that began June 9 are urged to first apply for assistance by calling the toll-free registration number, 1-800-621-FEMA (TDD 1-800-462-7585). Anyone who has experienced losses can also go to the Disaster Recovery Center at the Ram's Sport Center in Roseau. The Disaster Recovery Center is open Monday through Friday, 11a.m. to 7p.m. and Saturdays 10a.m. to 7p.m., until further notice. Childcare services will be available.
