West Salem, WI -- Homeowners, renters and business owners, whose property was damaged by the recent severe storm or tornado, will be able to get personal help from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Assistance Program.

"In times of disaster, the SBA functions as the nation's bank to help people recover from uninsured losses," said Travis Brown, SBA field operations officer. The SBA provides this help through its low--interest disaster loan program.

The SBA will take over the Disaster Recovery Center locations in Neenah and Siren used by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM). Both centers are closed for the Fourth of July. Only the Siren Disaster Recovery Center will reopen for two days. After that, representatives from FEMA will be at the SBA offices for a limited time to answer questions about disaster assistance.

The SBA office at the Community Room in the Neenah Police Department, 2111 Marathon Ave., will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 5, through Saturday, July 7. Hours beginning next week will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until further notice.

In Siren, the Disaster Recovery Center will continue operation at the Siren High School, 24022 Fourth Ave., from 10 a.m. to 8 pm. Thursday and Friday, July 5 and 6.

The Siren SBA disaster loan assistance office will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 7. After that, hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday until further notice.

Representatives of FEMA, SBA and the state of Wisconsin will be at the Burnett County Business & Home Expo at the Siren High School, starting Sunday to provide information about disaster assistance and mitigation information to help residents make their homes more wind--resistant. The Expo will be open from 10 a.m to 8 p.m. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at Siren High School.

Individuals in 17 Wisconsin counties eligible for federal disaster assistance have until Aug. 10 to register by calling FEMA toll--free at 1--800--462--9029.
