FINDLAY, Ohio -- A mitigation outreach team from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will return to the Mansfield Lowe’s store for three days starting Friday, Oct. 12.

The Lowe’s store is located at 940 N. Lexington Spring Mill Road. Mitigation specialists will be there from a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12 and 13, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14.

The teams have been working at various home building supply stores and county fairs in the eight-county disaster area since late August. Since then, more than 2,700 people have stopped by to learn about a wide range of mitigation measures such as relocating electric switchboxes and outlets; elevating furnaces, water heaters and appliances, and installing special valves to prevent sewer backups.

There’s do-it-yourself advice, and consumer information about hiring responsible professionals. National Flood Insurance Program information also is available, including guidelines on how mitigation measures could lower your flood insurance premiums.

FEMA coordinates the federal government’s role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
