ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Browns County Market is hosting the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) hazard mitigation specialists who will staff a display and show examples of cleanup and construction techniques as well as flood insurance information for the public.

Hazard mitigation techniques suggested by FEMA that meet and exceed local building codes can help prevent damage from tornadoes, high winds and flooding.  Mitigation representatives will discuss the National Flood Insurance Program and ways to protect yourself from flooding in the future. This is an opportunity to easily understand ways that can minimize the impact from natural disasters. How to handle your insurance claims will also be covered.

Availability: FEMA hazard mitigation specialists will be available for demonstrations and easy-to-understand interviews on how to incorporate stronger building techniques.
