FEMA Mitigation Outreach Team Sets Up Shop In Lima Lowe's Store

FINDLAY, Ohio -- Looking to make your home safer and dryer? So is the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
A mitigation outreach team from FEMA is setting up shop in the Lima Lowe's store to give people information and advice about simple, low-cost repair and retrofitting solutions that may help reduce damage and loss in a flood.
The mitigation outreach team will be inside Lowe's at 2411 N. Eastown Road, Wednesday, Sept. 26 through Wednesday, Oct. 3. Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The outreach team will not be there Monday, Oct. 1.
The teams have been working at various home building supply stores, county fairs and other locations in the eight-county disaster area since late August. In that time, more than 2,700 people have stopped by to learn about a wide range of mitigation measures such as relocating electric switchboxes and outlets; elevating furnaces, water heaters and appliances, and installing special valves to prevent sewer backups.

Outreach teams also have information about how mitigation measures could lower your flood insurance premiums.
FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
