» More Information on Minnesota Severe Storms and Flooding

ROCHESTER , Minn. -- Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) serving residents affected by the recent severe storms and flooding will no longer be open Sundays, according to officials from Minnesota Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) and the U.S Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

In addition, one DRC will transition to a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) outreach center next week, and two DRCs will cease operations.

The DRC in Hokah ( Houston County ) will begin operations as an SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center effective Monday, Sept. 17.

The DRCs in Dodge Center ( Dodge County ) and Eyota ( Olmsted County ) will cease operations after business hours on Saturday, Sept. 15.

“Recovery operations are progressing swiftly,” said Federal Coordinating Officer Carlos Mitchell. “Residents affected by the disaster should remember, though, that they can still call FEMA's helpline or visit any open DRC – even one outside of their county – to receive assistance and information.”

FEMA's helpline is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- or hearing-impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers operate from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. (local time) seven days a week. New applicants can begin applying for assistance by calling the same numbers or by visiting www.fema.gov .

At the DRCs, affected residents can speak face-to-face with disaster recovery representatives from a variety of agencies. The specialists answer questions and provide written materials about the variety of disaster assistance programs available to residents in the seven disaster-designated counties: Dodge, Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Steele, Wabasha and Winona.

At the SBA outreach center, SBA specialists will answer questions regarding the SBA loan process, help residents affected by the recent severe storms and flooding fill out applications for low-interest loans, and accept completed forms.
