More Disaster Assistance Briefings for Local Officials Set

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- State and federal disaster officials will hold four more briefings to help representatives from state and local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations in seven counties apply for federal disaster assistance in the wake of the June 1 and continuing severe storms and flooding.

The briefings will be held at the following locations, dates and times, according to officials from the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Mercer and Rock Island counties:
Thursday, July 24, 1 p.m.

The briefings will provide information about FEMA's Public Assistance (Infrastructure) program for debris removal, emergency protective measures and the repair, restoration or replacement of public facilities or infrastructure that were damaged during the June 1 and continuing severe storms and flooding.

These meetings are intended for local officials and do not address FEMA's Individual Assistance program for homeowners, renters and business owners.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
