Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers Will Open in Rock Island and Mercer Counties on Monday

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Residents and business owners in Rock Island and Mercer counties who suffered losses or damages as a result of the severe storms and flooding on June 1 and continuing can meet face-to-face with disaster recovery specialists at new state/federal Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers (MDRC) located in East Moline and Keithsburg.

The Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA), the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and other disaster recovery specialists will be available to meet with disaster victims to answer questions and provide recovery information.

The centers will be located at:

Rock Island County (FEMA Mobile Unit)
East Moline Fire Department
Station # 22 - Training Room

Monday, July 14 through Saturday, July 19, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Mercer County (FEMA Mobile Unit)
Keithsburg City Building

Monday, July 14 through Wednesday, July 16, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Wednesday, July 23 through Saturday, July 26, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The DRC staff will answer questions about registration for disaster assistance and hazard mitigation, help with disaster loan applications, and provide information and contacts for other programs.

Homeowners and renters affected by the recent severe storms and flooding can register for assistance by calling the telephone registration line, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Residents are encouraged to register prior to visiting a DRC. For speech- or hearing-impaired applicants, the TTY number is 1-800-462-7585. Registration lines are available 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week until further notice. Applicants also may register online at www.fema.gov.

SBA representatives at the DRCs will meet with home and business loan applicants to provide assistance in completing their disaster loan applications and to accept completed disaster loan applications. Returning the application is an essential part of the disaster recovery process even for individuals who do not qualify for a loan.

SBA offers low-interest disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations for losses not fully covered by insurance. The SBA may loan up to $200,000 to repair or replace homes and up to $40,000 to repair or replace personal property. Up to $2 million is available for uncompensated business disaster losses.

Residents and business owners can receive information about SBA disaster loans and help with the application process by calling the SBA Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 or visiting the SBA Web site at www.sba.gov/services/disasterassistance or by e-mailing the SBA at disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.

Other FEMA/State Disaster Recovery Centers are open daily from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. until further notice, except for the Lake County MDRC which only is open July 11 and 12. The other locations are:
