Two More Counties Added to Disaster Declaration

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Two more Indiana counties were added today to the federal disaster declared on June 8, according to officials from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Today’s announcement takes the total of counties designated in this federal declaration to 39.

The additional counties are: Hendricks and Tippecanoe.

Other counties previously designated as eligible for Individual Assistance (IA) are: Adams, Bartholomew, Brown, Clay, Daviess, Dearborn, Decatur, Gibson, Grant, Greene, Hamilton, Hancock, Henry, Huntington, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Johnson, Knox, Lawrence, Marion, Monroe, Morgan, Owen, Parke, Pike, Posey, Putnam, Randolph, Ripley, Rush, Shelby, Sullivan, Vermillion, Vigo, Washington and Wayne counties.

This will help eligible individuals and business owners recover from the effects of severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that occurred during a period beginning May 30 and continuing.

Affected individuals and business owners may apply for assistance by calling the toll-free registration number, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until further notice. Those with a speech- or hearing-impairment may call TTY 1-800-462-7585. An application also can be completed online at www.fema.gov.

Officials remind affected residents who have already filled out damage report forms with the State, or their county emergency managers, or voluntary agencies that they must register with FEMA at the above numbers or Web site to be eligible for federal assistance.

All residents also are encouraged to get involved with the recovery by helping spread the word about available assistance. Tell your neighbor.
